Devonport Entertainment Centre, 145 Rooke St, Devonport
Adult $25, Concession $20

The cream of Melbourne’s jazz talent, The Syncopators, feature a tribute to the music of jazz pioneer ‘Jelly Roll’ Morton. Morton was an important transitional figure between ragtime and jazz piano styles. His significance as a father of ensemble jazz and the music of the New Orleans tradition is iconic.

While he enjoyed telling people that he had "invented jazz" (a dubious claim), he is believed to have been the first jazz musician to put his arrangements to paper, with "Original Jelly Roll Blues" the genre's first published work. Although Morton may not have been the inventor of jazz, he is regarded by fans and experts as one of the art form's great innovators.

Janet Seidel and her band perform memorable favourites like I Get A Kick Out Of You, Night and Day, Love For Sale and many more. “Her unadorned crystal clear voice and infectious humour and patter is a winning combination. Janet offered us a uniquely personal, classic and sophisticated take on the greatest American lyricist and composer in one, Cole Porter”. Canberra City News.
