Bruny Island New Orleans Jazz Band
| In 1994 trumpet player Allan Gibson moved to Bruny Island from Melbourne where he had led a jazz band since 1980. Suffering from New Orleans deprivation, he was delighted to find other musicians living on the Island who shared his enthusiasm for the sounds of ensemble improvisation, syncopation of simple tunes and the intense four beats to the bar laid down by a New Orleans rhythm section. Allan brought together Mal Kent, Rob O’Connell, Cliff Wright and John Broadby to play the exciting and spontaneous New Orleans style jazz. | ![]() |
Swingtime
| A hard-swinging Hobart band, recreating the small-group sounds of
Ellington, Goodman, Basie and other groups from that era, Swingtime presents a
mixture of swing, jump and jive, blues and an occasional dash of foot-tapping
traditional jazz. A group for all occasions whether it be quiet background
music, a concert performance or for kicking up one’s heels on the dance-floor. |
